All things considered, I may need to use strategies to make my learning style correspond with an online course wherein the method of guidance is chiefly sound-related and visual. It would be a preferred position if the visual perspectives welcome collaboration as blaze introductions wherein I as the understudy can effectively partake. Sensation learning in spite of the fact that embodied by physical preparing through touch and tangible experience can in any case be available in online courses by minor investment through clicking and composing during the genuine conversation. My consideration and ability to get a handle on the data would be improved by taking notes utilizing a word processor because of the way that I am ready to gain proficiency with the idea while keeping my body in dynamic consciousness of how my psyche interprets the data. Furthermore, recording highlights about the course just as my considerations during the online talk would permit me to more readily hold the data (Interview with Laura Summers, 2000). I may need to investigate past the real substance of the course and perceive how they really are by getting along a touch of hands on work to have previously had understanding of the topic. It would truly be useful for me to attempt to make innovative portrayals of the notes and information I obtain from my online exercises. I may change over the key ideas into substantial structure by making diagrams, making a model as illustration(Miller, 2000). An intelligent online course would suit my learning style better, be that as it may, I should discover manners by which to adjust to the topic regardless of whether the method of guidance doesn't straightforwardly address my sensation tendencies. The strategies referenced above would help me in accommodating the last with the showing procedure accessible. In consolidating the sound-related and visual technique with my own requirement for hands on getting of data; I may have an edge in comprehensively understanding the course past the web. Â Â

The Best Transfer Essay of 2018 Hurricanes TKG

The Best Transfer Essay of 2018 Hurricanes The transfer process is a lot like applying to college the first time. You need transcripts and teacher recommendations; there are far more supplements than you’d like, and the all-important college essay is still mandatory. So, in many ways, it’s the same. However, transfer essays are pulling double duty. In addition to showing schools that you are a great student, a community member worth coveting, and an overall stellar human being, you need to answer one more question: Why? Why are you looking to transfer? Why is where you are now not good enough? My favorite transfer essay of the 2017-2018 college season starts simply enough:  â€œâ€™Choose what you want to keep, but it must fit in no more than a suitcase and your gym bag. There’s a good chance nothing will be left of the house when we return,’ said my dad, interrupted by the voice of the Sheriff booming from his patrol car: ‘Immediate Mandatory Evacuation.’ They were forecasting a 15-foot storm surge from Hurricane Ir maâ€"and my house isn’t even 15 feet tall.”Right off the bat, there are some big things going on. Not only does it start with dialogue, which is hard enough to pull off as is, but it starts with multiple layers. The Sheriff interrupting his father immediately ensures that the piece isn’t static or transactional. It isn’t a stilted back-and-forth; It’s woven. The thing is, though, this isn’t an essay about a hurricane. I mean, it is, but that isn’t what is at its core. The student chose to weave a series of family circumstances that made staying close to home if not mandatory, a very tough and selfless decision together with his experience during Hurricane Irma. This provided a tool for illustrating the complexity and trauma of his experiences without the piece becoming bogged down. So, it’s a conversation between two stories. One, a literal hurricane. The other a figurative one that the literal one helps to illustrate. This freed him from having to try to articulate fe elings that can come off as forced when they have to be written in a format as condensed as the Common App Essay â€" and especially when the essay is also supposed to include what you want to achieve wherever it is you end up.The student ended the first section of his essay with a simple line that cleanly closed a difficult narrative:“Thus, my story is not one of why I’m choosing to leave, but rather why I initially chose to stay.”In the second half of the essay, the student addresses what he hopes to accomplish after transferring. This section is heavily focused on academics, as it should be. He wants something from his college education that he isn’t currently able to access. And so, with things at home in order, he is ready to look for it elsewhere. It doesn’t come off as entitled or grabby because his circumstances and desires have been contextualized. It ends:“Today, my family is stable, and my role has changed. I’m not required for daily support, and I have the op portunity I wanted as a high school senior. Not every storm has a happy ending, but I’m determined this one will by transferring somewhere where I can follow my passions. Mine is a launch delayed, not a launch denied.”Each time I read this essay, I actually tear up a little, especially since this student was accepted to a stellar school where he will be able to study what he is most passionate about.Being able to work with a student who has experienced enormous challenges, has risen to every occasion, who I respect as an intellectual peer, and who has something meaningful to say was a moving experience for me. Our students are outstanding because we only work with people that we believe have great potential, but this student takes it to a whole new level.Over hours on the phone and much more writing on his own, he was able to produce more than an essay, or even a great acceptance, but an understanding of his own past experiences that I believe had a positive impact far beyond th e transfer process.

I ve Written Before About My Younger Sister - 971 Words

I’ve written before about my younger sister, Kathryn Mary, who was born on September 13, 1972. Within a couple of days of her birth, her doctors discovered that she had Down syndrome and a heart defect that was going to eventually need to be corrected with open heart surgery. Unfortunately, Kathryn never got to a point where she had enough strength and stamina to withstand a surgery. She was so weak that she was never able to turn herself over or crawl on the floor. She gained very little weight during the 13 months that she was with us. She died on October19, 1973. Kathryn was with us for only one Christmas, and there is only one thing that I remember about that day. My grandfather, Tom Williams, came over to our house and when he saw my mom holding Kathryn, he said in a loud voice, â€Å"She’s the best Christmas present you could ever ask for. You should wrap a red bow around her and forget about all the other presents.† Shortly after the birth of our little Christmas present, one of her doctors told my parents that children who are born with Down syndrome have a great love of and appreciation for music. The doctor encouraged my parents to play music for Kathryn as often as possible. My mom did what the doctor told her to do and played soothing music as often as possible, especially when she was trying to calm Kathryn down or put her to sleep. Although it’s been more than 40 years since Kathryn died and went to heaven, I still think of her when I consider the impact that musicShow MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Disney s Disney Princesses 1302 Words   |  6 Pagesreally knows which is which). Cnn s Presidential Election Coverage - 938 Words

For this project, I chose to watch the CNN Presidential Primary election coverage. I watched the coverage on Super Tuesday, and also on Super Saturday. I wanted to see how they portrayed each candidate, and also who was represented in regards to the news anchors. Men were clearly represented more than women on both days, and white males were the most represented overall. While there were female news anchors dissecting the information, the main news anchors were males such as Wolf Blitzer. I found this interesting because the women seemed to play a smaller point in the coverage, only commenting on the results, while their male counterparts actually released and gave out the results. There were a few different cultures represented, with African Americans being represented the second most, and then hispanics. Relating to the candidates, it seems as if Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are receiving the most press even though other candidates are winning other states. I believe this is be cause news networks have a political race that they want to see (Clinton v Trump) and they will try to dissuade voters towards candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Marco Rubio for example. I find this very interesting because it clearly shows how the media can influence people s minds, and the election. Apart from this, many radio stations such as Mag ic 105.4 FM enhanced the listening skills of the people by airing programs related to Earth Hour. One of the mentionable facts here is the initiatives undertaken by the National Geographic Channel. Instead of showing the regular shows, the channel personnel planned to make the public domain aware about mitigating the excessive consumption of energy. Moreover, the movement is supported by many organizations, such as, National Hockey League, FIFA World Cup, UNESCO, Philips, International Trade Union Conference, and HSBC among others. Assistance from so many countries and organizations add firmness in the purpose of saving the planet Earth (Planetsave.com, 2017). This figure represents the timeline of Earth Hour from 2007-2014. The projection of events in the year wise format enhances the clarity of the readers in terms of enhancing their preconceived knowledge. The main points align with the requirements of the task, which is devoid of any unnecessary information that might lose the purpose of the proposed questions. The events are interrelated with each other. Rather, each event is a result of the other events. As a matter of specification, the rally organized in the year of 2007 was a result of the movement being a grand success. Another noticeable fact in the timeline is the increase in the participation of the countries, towns and cities. Herein, lays the effectiveness and appropriateness of the social media, which attracted the people to join hands in terms of beautifying the planet. Corporations associated with Earth Hour Joint ventures between the native organisation and the associate partners help in the achievement of positive outcomes. Along with this, the joint ventures add firmness in the cause of the movement, which is assistance in preserving the cause of the movement. These aspects also prove true for the movement, Earth Hour. The corporations that assist Earth Hour are: World Wildlife Fund (WWF); Coca-Cola; USAID; Domtar; Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd; Canon; Nokia Siemens Network; Price Waterhouse Cooper; HSBC among others (Planetsave.com, 2017). Along with these, TV channels such as National Geography is also considered to be one of the agency partners of the Earth Hour movement. Radio channels such as Magic 105.4 FM has also indulged into a partnership with the conservation movement of Earth Hour. The joint venture between WWF and Coca-Cola has proved beneficial for the Earth Hour movement. Since 2007, the Coca-Cola Company has undertaken initiatives to preserve the freshness and purity of the freshwater resources such as water basins, catchment areas of the rivers. Along with this, the partnership has enabled the organizers to avert challenges, which degrades the ecological diversity of Nature (Worldwildlife.org, 2017). This initiative has added to the reputational status of the company, aligning with the motto of quenching the thirst of the customers by providing them fresh drinking water. Similarly, HSBC, one of the worlds leading financial institutions, switched off the lights, in order to contribute towards the planet conservation campaign. This initiative was a change in terms of altering the ways of electricity consumption in the businesses (Planetsave.com, 2017). Ambassadors of Earth Hour Ambassadors act as a representative for the public in terms of bringing change. This proves true for all of the events that take place within the society, community among others. Viewing it from other perspective, ambassadors act as sponsorships, which safeguard the organizations from encountering challenging situations. The same is applicable for Earth Hour, an event to preserve the planet Earth. According to the revelations of WWF Global, every year an ambassador is selected for the movement (Wwf.panda.org, 2017). As a matter of specification, in 2008, Smirk, a young boy of 18 was selected as the brand ambassador for the movement. In the year of 2011, Australian beauty, Miranda Kerr was named as the brand ambassador of the Earth Hour. In the year 2013, actress Jessica Alba was selected as the brand ambassador (Wwf.panda.org, 2017). In the year 2016, the charge of Earth Hour went to ambassadors Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski and Marc Nelson (Newsinfo.inquirer.net, 2017). Hollywood star and co-founder of The Honest Company, Jessica Alba was roped in by the organizers of the Earth Hour as the brand ambassador in 2013. The presence of willingness qualifies Alba as the right choice for carrying on the movement. Collaboration of Alba with the other members of the eco-friendly family brand enabled the organizers to promote well being through the means of sustainable development (Wwf.panda.org, 2017). The actress is hopeful that unity and strength between the team members would encourage the people to make usage of eco-friendly products, which would contribute less to the environmental pollution. Her encouragement has enabled the people to make the Earth a better place to live in. Environmental outcome Estimation of the scientists regarding an increase of 2 degree Celsius possesses tendency to prove fatal for the planet Earth as a whole. As a matter of specification, droughts, floods, stormy heat waves are flexible enough for taking a toll on the longevity of the life forms. Moreover, it would make the abodes of humans, animals and plants vulnerable, which would question the existence of life forms on the planet (Edensor, 2017). Typical evidence of this fact is the entrapment of low lying areas by the tidal waves; collapse of the food production among others. In response to these situations, Paris, one of the member countries of Earth Hour, has taken noticeable initiatives. One of this is the Conference of Parties (COP). In this conference, representatives across the globe pledge to regulate the temperature rise below 2oC. The maximum level affirmed for temperature rise was 1.5oC. The net result of this agreement was neutrality in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. By the second half of the century, the scientists were able to keep the temperature below 2 degrees (Khan Borgstrom, 2016). Achievement of success in this direction prevented Greenland and ice sheet of Western coast of Antarctica from melting. The intensity of the movements purpose alarmed each and every country to take preventive measures. This motive contradicts the limitations of Paris. Organizing conferences, meetings reflect the efforts of the organizers in terms of making the people aware about protection for the planet Earth. The plus sign in the logo relates to the action of going beyond the stipulated time for conserving the diversity of the planet. Social media contributions to Earth Hour Social media possesses flexibility to increase the trafficking of the audience towards the events. It is one of an efficient means to convey important information to a large mass of audience at a single time. The same is applicable for Earth Hour movement, which inculcated the values of preserving the planet within the minds of public domain (Wwf.org.hk, 2017). One of this is the Earth Hour Moment Social Media Campaign. The officials of Hong Kong have launched this campaign. In order to become a part, the people need to take selfies of their activities in darkness and upload it on social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram among others (Wwf.org.hk, 2017). These activities increased the number of participants for Earth Hour Campaign. Along with this, every member of Earth Hour is provided with a Starter Kit. The contents of this tool kit are the cover photos, which seems most appropriate with the logo of the movement. The selected photo is used as the cover image for the social networking sites, which acts as a promotional activity for the movement (Earthhour.org, 2017). Apart from this, the installation of technologically advanced software in the members profiles has made the organizers aware about the steps that have been taken in order to protect the planet. According to the statistics, most of the tweet comments have come from US and Canada. Next in list is UK, where the mentions are 2 884, which is 7.07%. The fourth position is attained by India, where the percentile of social media distribution is 5 %. Indonesia attains the last position in terms of social media usage for making the people aware about the Earth Hour campaign (Socialbakers.com, 2017).
